About This Module
The Surgical Prophylaxis module monitors compliance with ASHP/IDSA/SHEA/SIS 2013 guidelines and CCHMC protocols (v2024.2) for surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis.
7-Element Bundle
1. Indication
Prophylaxis given (or withheld) appropriately for procedure type
2. Agent Selection
Correct antibiotic for procedure and patient allergies
3. Pre-op Timing
Within 60 min of incision (120 min for vancomycin)
4. Dosing
Weight-based dosing with appropriate max doses
5. Redosing
Intraoperative redosing for prolonged surgery
6. Post-op Continuation
Appropriate continuation when required
7. Discontinuation
Stopped within 24h (48h for cardiac)
